It’s true, as you might have already heard, that Don Meredith retired on August 31st.
You may find this nearly impossible to imagine, since over the past 49 years, Don has established himself as such a prominent figure at Harding School of Theology and its library. It is hard to think of a person who was better suited for their life’s work than Don has been to theological librarianship. It really doesn’t feel like hyperbole at all to suggest that Don was born to be a theological librarian.
So we think it would be totally inappropriate to let an opportunity like this pass without giving you one last chance to honor Don. And that is why you are invited to come to campus on Thursday, September 21st and join us for Afterword: Celebrating the Career of Don Meredith.
Here is the schedule for that day:
4:30 I Heard the Song and Strove to Join
Jerry Rushford, Pepperdine University, Pittman Chapel
5:30 ‘One Copy May Descend’: The Power of Print in our Heritage
Carisse Mickey Berryhill, Abilene Christian University, Pittman Chapel
6:30 Reception and Presentation, L.M. Graves Memorial Library
We would love for you to join us for some, or all, of this significant event. If you cannot attend, there are still ways to honor him. Will you consider making a financial gift to the Don and Evelyn Meredith Restoration Endowment? There is no better way to honor Don’s legacy than to ensure the ongoing support of the library’s collections. Perhaps you could give one of the following dollar amounts:
- years as Head Librarian ($34)
- years with Harding School of Theology ($49)
- sections of Advanced Theological Research taught ($177 )
- faculty meetings attended ($490 )
- bibliographic essays graded ($1400)
For more information, please contact Bob Turner by phone or email: (901) 761-1354, email@example.com. If you’d like to write a check, simply include the note AFTERWORD so that we can designate it to the correct fund. Online gifts can be made here.
We hope you can join us on September 21st!
