About Memphis

Home of the Blues. Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Memphis is a thriving city of commerce, education, and global transportation. Nicknamed The Bluff City because of the city’s position overlooking the Mississippi River, Memphis is known internationally as the center of blues music, fabulous barbeque, and the home of Elvis Presley.

The myriad recreational activities include the new Green Line, which provides a safe, wooded pedestrian and bike trail from eclectic Midtown to the park and lake at Shelby Farms.

The award-winning Memphis Zoo and Children’s Museum of Memphis offer family-friendly excursions. Brooks Museum of Art offers world-class cultural venues, as do the Memphis Botanic Garden, and the Dixon Garden and Gallery—both located adjacent to the HST campus.
