Dr. jack Lewis autographs autobiography

Dr. Jack Lewis autographs a copy of his autobiography

Each student at HST shares a common story. Each comes to HST to drink deeply from God’s word in preparation for – and often in the middle of – a lifetime of service.

But each student also has an individual story. God gifts our students in different ways, and gives them a passion for various ministry callings. Many are preparing to preach in a congregation. Others are passionate about mission work, counseling, or youth or campus ministry. This issue of The Bridge sheds a little light on scholars, missionaries, and leaders.

The Bridge: Fall 2012

The Fall 2012 issue of The Bridge is now online!

In this issue…

Our graduates give back to HST at about three times the national average. Director of Advancement Larry Arick asked some of our alumni to briefly express why, with so many needs in the world, they continue to give to HST. You’ll read some of their responses in the Fall 2012 issue of The Bridge.

Dr. Evertt W. Huffard, HST Dean, has been in Africa twice this semester. In August he spoke on the frontiers of leadership in Africa at the Africans Claiming Africa conference. In October and November he taught a missions class for students from Harding University at the Namwianga Mission in Zambia. Read his insight from these two experiences.

Two scholars spent time this semester doing research in the HST library’s large collection of missio material related to the churches of Christ. Among these materials are mission reports, institutional newsletters, area missions histories, and theses written at HST.

The Summer 2012 issue of The Bridge is now online! This issue highlights the theme for the 2012-2013 academic year, “Lord of All Nations”. Since Jesus is Lord of All Nations, His church is also made up of people from all nations.

This issue features sketches of multi-ethnic congregations and an overview of HST’s global context and teaching. We also acknowledge the class of 2012, and we honor Dean Emeritus Bill Flatt with an endowment to carry on his legacy of training Christian counselors.
